Supporting strong public schools
Public schools are the heart of many communities across Cleveland, Lincoln, and Gaston counties. As a retired teacher, I know firsthand that students succeed when schools have the resources, staff, and support they need.
As your senator, I will fight for stronger public schools by supporting competitive teacher pay, improving teacher retention, expanding career and technical education opportunities, and ensuring schools have the resources to meet the needs of every student.
I will work to keep public education funding focused on the schools that serve all children and support efforts that help recruit and retain excellent teachers in rural communities. I will work with educators, parents, local school boards, and colleagues from both parties to strengthen public education and prepare students for college, careers, military service, and life.

Expanding access to affordable healthcare
No one should have to drive long distances, wait months for an appointment, or choose between medicine and groceries. Too many rural communities are struggling with doctor shortages, rising costs, and limited access to care.
As your senator, I will fight to strengthen rural healthcare by supporting rural hospitals, expanding access to primary care and mental health services, encouraging healthcare professionals to practice in underserved communities, and protecting access to affordable coverage.
I will work with healthcare providers, hospitals, local leaders, and colleagues across the political spectrum to develop practical solutions that improve access and reduce costs. Every family, every worker, and every retiree deserves access to quality healthcare close to home.

Ensuring our roads and infrastructure can keep up
Growth is coming to Cleveland, Lincoln, and Gaston counties whether we plan for it or not. As your senator, I will fight for investments in roads, bridges, water systems, broadband, and other infrastructure that growing communities need.
I will work with local governments, business leaders, and colleagues from both parties to bring state resources back to our communities and make sure transportation planning keeps pace with growth. Good infrastructure supports economic development, improves public safety, and helps attract jobs while preserving the quality of life that makes our communities special.

Lowering everyday costs
Families, retirees, and working people are feeling the squeeze from rising costs. As your senator, I will fight for policies that help lower everyday expenses by expanding access to affordable health care, strengthening public education, supporting workforce development, and encouraging economic growth that benefits local communities.
I believe government should focus on practical solutions that help people keep more of what they earn. I will work across the aisle with anyone willing to put North Carolina families ahead of partisan politics and focus on the kitchen-table issues that matter most: health care costs, housing, utilities, transportation, and financial security.
